Ami Beaver is inspired by nature, classical botanical illustration, children's stories and maps. While she dabbles in a number of creative pursuits, she considers the majority of her work to be book like, bookish or book inspired.
She has always been interested in exploring notions of place in her work, and has recently become interested in experimenting with structure. Her book works incorporate elements of weaving, origami, hand lettering, embroidery and macrame.
Ami works out of her home studio, Big Woods Press, in The Dalles, Oregon. She studied book arts at Columbia College Chicago.
